Baileys 6 Paw-Some Top Tips for Fireworks season to keep your Pets Calm and Safe

Baileys 6 Paw-Some Top Tips for Fireworks season to keep your Pets Calm and Safe
Brought to you by Redrose Estate Agents and our resident canine greeter, Bailey!

As autumn sweeps in, with its crunchy leaves, cool evenings, and the comforting scent of bonfires, there’s a lot to love about this time of year. 🍂 But as the nights get darker and fireworks season approaches, many pet owners begin to feel a little anxious — and Bailey, our much-loved Redrose office dog, completely understands!

While Bonfire Night and fireworks displays light up the skies across the UK, the loud bangs and bright flashes can be a real source of stress for our furry friends. So, Bailey has decided to lend a paw and share his very own top tips for keeping pets calm, safe, and happy during fireworks season. 🐾

🐶 Bailey’s Fireworks Survival Guide

  1. Create a “Bailey Den” 🏠
Bailey swears by having his own cosy corner. Find a quiet space in your home where your pet can retreat when things get noisy. Add soft blankets, a favourite toy, and maybe even a piece of your clothing — it helps them feel close to you and secure.
  2. Walkies Before Dark 🚶‍♀️
Bailey loves his walks, but he knows fireworks can start early in the evening. Take your dog out for their walk before sunset to avoid any sudden bangs. A good bit of exercise can also help them feel more relaxed later on.
  3. Curtains Closed, Volume Up 🎵
When the fireworks begin, Bailey’s humans close the curtains and put on the telly or some gentle music. The background noise helps drown out the scary sounds from outside — and makes things feel more normal.
  4. Treats and Toys Galore 🎾
Bailey’s philosophy: “If I’m busy with a chew or my favourite toy, I can’t worry about the fireworks!” Keep your pets distracted with playtime or a puzzle treat — it’s a simple but effective way to shift their focus.
  5. Stay Calm and Cuddle On 🧘‍♀️
Pets take emotional cues from their humans. If you stay relaxed and upbeat, they’re more likely to do the same. Bailey says a calm cuddle or gentle reassurance works far better than fussing or over-comforting.
  6. Try Calming Aids 🌿
Bailey’s friends at the vet recommend using pheromone diffusers or sprays designed to reduce anxiety. They work best when started a few days before fireworks night — and Bailey gives them a paw of approval!

❤️ A Message from Bailey (and the Redrose Team)

Here at Redrose Estate Agents, we’re a team of animal lovers, and Bailey is very much part of the family — our Chief GreeterStress Reliever, and Tail-Wagging Ambassador of Happiness. 🐾

So, as fireworks season begins, take a few extra steps to create comfort and calm for your furry companions — they’ll thank you for it with cuddles, wagging tails, and happy faces once the night sky quietens again.

When it’s all over, Bailey will be back at the office, ready with his waggy welcome — and he’d love to meet your four-legged friends too!
